Functional Coatings / Inks possess functions that are beyond decoration or protection of the coated / printed substrate. Examples of Functional Coatings include temperature-regulating coatings for buildings, infra-red invisible coatings for military uniforms, vehicles and equipment, and anti-viral coatings for furniture and garments. Examples of Functional Inks include inks for medical diagnostic sensors, inks for passports and ID cards, and inks for consumer electronic devices. Functional Coatings and Inks tend to be of very high added-values and hence high profit margins. This Technical Workshop will cover the following themes, each with “real life” examples:
The Technical Workshop will be delivered in a highly interactive format, where delegates will have ample opportunities to ask questions and engage in lively discussions with the tutor. |

Pigments are widely used in different industries, such as architectural coatings, adhesives, sealants, automotive coatings, wood coatings, printing inks, etc. In order to better show the characteristics of pigments and adapt to ever-changing application fields, it is necessary to modify and functionalize pigments to a certain extent. Pigment modification gives pigments more adaptability, while functionalization can expand the role of pigments. Among them, water-based technology of pigments has become a hot spot in the industry, where continuous introduction of innovative technologies will surely improve its comprehensive performance to a higher level. In addition to the themes listed below, this Technical Workshop will also cover future technology development trend of pigments, which will also become an important part of the development of coatings technology.
